Naples Couple's Card Game 'Rehabs' Relationships

It may sound simple. A card game, loaded with ice-breaker questions, aimed at getting your partner talking.
"It's fun to be able to watch couples play because they start getting closer, and closer, and closer," explained James Schlimmer, co-founder of Rehab Gaming USA.
"Rehab, A Couples Release" is a 52-deck card game helping partners fall in love again.
"It's hard work; relationships are work," said Ashley Chaffee, co-founder of Rehab Gaming USA.
Real-life Naples couple James and Ashley created the game after James helped friends of his own through a rough patch.
"She said it feels like we went to rehab, couples therapy, and it kind of hit my head thinking, man there might be something to this," Schlimmer said.
The FGCU grads came up with questions they believed would get new and old couples talking and laughing, taking their minds off everyday life.
"Getting to know each other again, taking time for each other, taking time to get to create this foundation again," Chaffee said.
Schlimmer's 11-year-old son James also helped in the business venture, coming up with the slogan himself.
"I took out a sheet of paper and started writing down names and started saying them out loud, and then I said 'a couple to release' and they said 'Oh, that's the one,'" James said.
According to health professionals, communication is the number one reason why relationships fail and leads to 65 percent of all divorces.
"The art, which it is a skill to be able to communicate one on one, is evaporating. This game forces you guys to look each other in the eyes," Schlimmer said.
Rehab, A Couples Release can be a first step in rekindling the spark.
"The game kind of takes you on a roller coaster, but it's designed to do that," Schlimmer said.
The game is available online for $17.99 at rehabgamingusa.com.
